Starting a weight loss diet?

Start your diet..

But first.. let’s read this..

Here are some important things to consider before starting a diet for weight loss:

  1. Consult a healthcare professional:

Before starting a weight loss diet, it's important to consult a doctor or a registered dietitian to discuss your goals and any potential health concerns. They can also help you determine a safe and effective calorie intake for weight loss.

  2. Set realistic goals:

Aim for slow and steady weight loss, rather than drastic and rapid weight loss. A safe and sustainable rate of weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week.

  3. Choose a balanced diet:

A healthy weight loss diet should include a variety of foods from all food groups, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats. Avoid fad diets that restrict certain food groups or promise rapid weight loss.

  4. Focus on portion control:

Pay attention to portion sizes and be mindful of how much you're eating. Keep track of your food intake using a food journal or a smartphone app.

  5. Incorporate physical activity:

Physical activity is an important component of weight loss. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week.

  6. Be patient:

Weight loss is a gradual process and it can take time to see results. It's important to be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way.

  7. Avoid making drastic changes:

Avoid making drastic changes to your diet or exercise routine, as this can lead to burnout and make it difficult to stick to your weight loss goals.

It's important to remember that everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to find what works best for you and your lifestyle and to be patient with yourself throughout the weight loss process.

Self-awareness is the ability to recognize and understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and how they impact others.

Here are five ways to cultivate self-awareness:

  1. Practice mindfulness:

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Mindfulness meditation, yoga, and tai chi are all great ways to improve self-awareness.

Writing about your thoughts and feelings in a journal can help you understand them better and improve self-awareness.

  3. Reflect on your experiences:

Menstrual Pain: Understanding and Coping with Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps

As a woman, it’s common to experience menstrual pain at some point in your life. Menstrual cramps, also known as dysmenorrhea, can cause discomfort and pain in the lower abdomen and back during your menstrual cycle. In this blog, we’ll explore what causes menstrual cramps, and provide tips for managing and reducing the pain.

What Causes Menstrual Cramps?

Menstrual cramps occur when the uterus contracts to shed its lining. These contractions are caused by the release of prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that cause the uterus to contract. The more prostaglandins produced, the more intense the cramping can be.

Other factors that may contribute to menstrual cramps include endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and adhesions in the pelvic area. In some cases, an underlying medical condition such as endometriosis or uterine fibroids may cause severe menstrual pain.

How to Manage Menstrual Cramps?

There are several ways to manage menstrual cramps and reduce pain. Here are some effective strategies:

  1. Exercise: Regular physical activity can help to reduce menstrual cramps by increasing blood flow and reducing tension in the muscles. Light exercise such as yoga, walking, or stretching can be especially helpful.

  2. Over-the-counter pain relief: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen can help to reduce menstrual cramps by blocking the production of prostaglandins.

  3. Heat therapy: Applying a heating pad or hot water bottle to the lower abdomen can help to relieve menstrual cramps. The heat relaxes the muscles and increases blood flow to the area.

  4. Relaxation techniques: Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and massage can help to reduce menstrual cramps by reducing stress and tension.

  5. Diet: Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to reduce menstrual cramps by providing the body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. Avoiding caffeine, sugar, and processed foods can also help to reduce menstrual cramps.

In severe cases, it may be necessary to see a doctor to rule out underlying medical conditions. Hormonal birth control such as the pill or an intrauterine device (IUD) can also be effective in reducing menstrual cramps.

Conclusion

Menstrual cramps can be uncomfortable and painful, but there are several effective strategies for managing the pain. Regular exercise, over-the-counter pain relief, heat therapy, relaxation techniques, and a healthy diet can all help to reduce menstrual cramps. If you’re experiencing severe or persistent menstrual cramps, it’s important to see a doctor to rule out underlying medical conditions.

Let’s work on managing stress.

I listen to many people taking about work related issues, daily family problems, unable to spend time with their loved ones, worrying about issues with business and much more.

Everything happening in your daily life is deeply affecting your inner-self and your body.

Let’s talk about solutions…

What can you do when you are stressed?

  • Go out

Everyone loves that..going out with your buddies, your loved one or your family.. What does this do? It distracts you from all the negative emotions that you have been having and makes you feel better.

  • Where’s my coffee or tea?

Make your favourite coffee,, if no that, go to your favourite cafe. Do you know.. you don’t need company to go to your favourite cafe and spend time? You can just go on your own and take your books.

  • Enjoy the nature

Have you thought of morning or evening walks? Guess what.. that is helpful for both mental health and fitness.. Try it.. look around for sunrise and sunset.

  • Meet your buddies

Meet your friends, it’s wonderful to have a chat when you are feeling stressed, you can have that one friend with which you can open up and relive all your worries by talking them out.

  • Music and movies

This is my favourite thing to do.. I just connect my bluetooth speaker and start listening to my favourite songs.. instant distraction.. I just dance to and let me myself be free and happy. Another option is movies, that is one of my husband's go to option when he is overwhelmed by work or too much stress. Try it!

  • Sports and games

Well.. you know that once you start playing a match, you cannot think about anything but focus on making your team win the game. This is a very natural and healthy way to keep the mind focussed. Individual games increase the concentration and lead to more innovative ideas for a healthy brain.
